GUIDELINE FOR USE

Before use ensure following:

  • Surgical consent complete.

  • Full Anaesthetic pre assessment complete.

  • Record verbal consent from patient or carer.

  • Ensure no history of photosensitive Epilepsy.

  • If photosensitive Epilepsy present please DO NOT use headset.


If gas induction is planned:

Please ensure you have followed the "Setup of Headset" and "How to watch YouTube in Virtual Reality instructions"

  1. Introduce the combined mask and headset as one piece to the patient at pre assessment already playing a video they may like

  2. Ask the patient which video they would like to watch via YouTube before going to sleep.

  3. Take the headset back with you to theatre.

  4. Give the combined mask and headset to the patient just prior to gas induction with their preferred video playing.

  5. Allow patients to place their own mask on their face, if possible.

  6. Apply patient monitoring, if possible.

  7. Commence gas induction, with preferred video playing.

  8. Once gas induction completed, detach headset from mask and continue anaesthetic as normal.

  9. Patient can take headset home if they wish.
